According to a report from Nikkei news agency, Square Enix is developing a next-gen version of their poorly recieved Xbox 360 title Final Fantasy XI. This is not true. Square Enix has just released a press release in which they refute the claims.
Square Enix also told that they will continue their support for the FFXI games by releasing various expansion packs. The release also confirms that the corporation is developing a brand new MMORPG for next-generation platforms.
NPD group has told that only around 72 000 Xbox 360 copies of Final Fantasy XI have been sold in the US since it´s release. This is largely due to the fact that the game had been available for over three years for PC and PS2 before it´s Xbox 360 debut.
