Gears of War, published by Microsoft Game Studios and developed by Epic Games, has sold 1 million copies in just two weeks. This clearly surpasses the earlier target of selling 1 million copies by the end of this years holiday season.
This also establishes Gears of War as fastest-selling title of 2006 and fastest-selling original Xbox title of all time.
Over 850 000 separate players have played Gears of War on Xbox Live in 10 million different gameplay sessions, unlocking overall 7 million achievements. Microsoft assumes that the game has also had a huge impact on Xbox Live subscriptions – paid registrations per day have increased over 50 percent after the game´s launch.
